This is way of using up my stash and holding myself accountable for it. I really need to organise what I have, and this seems like a sensible way of doing it. Plus you can join me for the journey.
What is #Stash22?
This is the basics: complete projects throughout 2022, all of them using only stuff you have in your stash, and in an ideal world you would complete 22 projects, roughly two a month with one month off. This means you cannot buy something specifically for a Stash22 project, but only use up what you have. However, not everyone has a ridiculously out of control stash (if this is you, please tell me your secrets), but the aim is to use what you have right now.
Where can I post about it?
Anywhere you like, just use #Stash22 but there is a channel in my Discord server that I'll be using to share my projects.
What crafts count?
Any. Sewing, embroidery, felting, spinning, crochet, knitting... Whatever it is you do, do that.
What if my projects are tiny?
Doesn't matter, any project size counts, as long as it is completely finished - ends woven in, washed, ironed, blocked, whatever those final stages are for your project.
If I have an advent calendar this year, can I count using that towards the stash thing?
Your advent calendar is for 2021, so yes, using it would count for your finished projects in 2022 because it was in your stash on January 1st.
Does that mean in theory I can buy all of the yarn ever, and because it'll be in my stash before next year, using it would count towards Stash22?
In theory, yes, and there's not anyone who will check if you buy stuff through the year and use it. While the aim is to finish projects using existing stash, it's probably fine.
Can I make stuff for charity? Gifts? For myself?
Yes, yes, yes. It doesn't matter what you intend to do with the finished thing, as long as it is finished.
Can these projects be things I've started already?
Yes they can, the aim is just to finish things.
So basically I just need to use up my stash, to complete projects, ideally trying to reach a goal of 22 finished items in a year?
Yes, me-but-in-bold-font, that's exactly it.
Through December, I'll also be posting about my World of Wool advent calendar, so look forward to that as well. Each day I'll talk about the fibre, what I think of it, how pretty it is, and what I might make with it.
For now however, I am excited for #Stash22 and making as many projects as I can.
Join me!
