Books
For the first time in months I've read fiction. A friend recommended The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison, and the next night I read the entire book, then two nights later I read The Witness for the Dead and loved them both. The Goblin Emperor is about Maia, a half goblin who has lived in exile all his life, but now is called to become Emperor after his father is killed in an airship crash. Mostly focused on court intrigue, this has some wonderful moments. The Witness for the Dead follows a character who appears in the first book; I won't give spoilers, but it is set after the events in the first book, and is more of a murder mystery. Both were wonderful.
Crafting
If you're in my Discord server, you may have seen that I am learning to sew. I'm only doing felt figures for now, but one day I'd love to learn how to sew my own clothes. I figure felt figures (pun intended) are a good starting point. I've tried to knit socks, and in short it's difficult. Every attempt I've made so far, I've had to undo and restart from scratch. I'm going to go back to it - no, really, I am - because the idea of knitting socks and mittens appeals to me, but I think I need to wait until my hand tremors have adjusted to the weather again, so I'm not flinging 15 stitches off one needle. I much prefer to crochet.
Planning
I do have a bit of a plan for a book club thing for 2022. There will be more details nearer the time, and this is something I've wanted to do for a while. I'm also planning my TBR for November, so keep an eye out for my first TBR post in far too long.
How has your week been?
