Firstly, welcome to my Wednesday Weekly Wrap Up. I missed last week, so technically this is a fortnight wrap up, but that doesn't have alliteration.
Books
I've not read at all. In two weeks I haven't picked up a book, and this is why...
Games
Fallout 4. I'm now almost at level 23, and I've almost completed the DLC Far Harbor fully. I'm doing all the side quests, exploring all the locations, and running away from a lot of scary things. Anglers and Fog Crawlers are the worst, it is so difficult to take them on; I'm still very low level, I've not gone to Sanctuary or Concord, and I'm mostly just using a sword because I'm constantly running out of everything. I now have a total of 36 hours played, and I love it.
Fallout 3 has also taken up a little of my time, but nowhere near as much. Again, it mostly involves me running away from the scary things.
Planet Coaster is my go-to relaxing game. I've got a park on the Steam Workshop you can play around in, and try to complete. I've also been building a sandbox park which is basically a fallen castle that has been turned into a shopping center on an island in the middle of a moat, and then coasters all around it.
Crochet
I've been working on my autumn shawl, and since it is Tunisian crochet progress is slow, but I love it. The yarn is so soft, and it has so much movement, it is exactly what I wanted.
Summary
I've been busy doing everything but reading. Let's move on to Top Five Wednesday, shall we?
Top Five Wednesday
This week is about favourite LGBTQ+ books that do not feature cis m/m relationships. Here's the description -
This may seem oddly specific, but in honor of Pride being this month, I wanted to have a topic to celebrate LGBTQ+ books. But, the book community tends to, when given the chance, lift up cis m/m pairings the most. And while those books are still important and valued (we've even had topics covering m/m relationships earlier this year, which featured many cis m/m pairings), I wanted to shine the spotlight on some of those lesser known, recognized, and celebrated books.
1. Queers Destroy Science Fiction
This audiobook is an anthology of short stories all in the genre of science fiction, and all of them have either a character that is LGBTQ+, a relationship that is LGBTQ+, or both. I'm about 75% through and I've laughed, cried, and generally adored the stories.
2. Sense8
Of course I'm going to talk about this show, how could I not? just look at what we have! Nomi and Neets, a lesbian couple with a trans woman. Their relationship is so strong and wonderful, I just had to include it... partly because I love the show, and partly because I ran out of books.
3. The Expanse, series by James SA Corey
Since this happens in the third book in the series, I won't give details as to who it involves. Finally a book, and it only happens "off screen" since none of the characters that act as narrator actually witness it.
4. Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, series by LK Hamilton
Another book, but another case of it being a very small thing. In two of the later books of the series, Anita has a sort of relationship with women. Sort of. I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel with this one, if I'm honest.
5. Finishing School, series by Gail Carriger
No LGBTQ+ relationships in this, but there is a character that could be described as non-binary.
Like I said, I'm really struggling with the topic this week. Almost all of the books with LGBTQ+ relationships that I have read have been a cis m/m relationship. If you have others that you can recommend, please do!
Well, that's everything.
