I'm not linked to World of Wool in any way, I just really got into spinning this year, and I want to share my love of the advent calendar.
Day Two: Irish Coffe; 50% Baby Camel, 50% Tussah Silk
This is a stunningly pretty blend. The soft browns of the camel fibre compliment the bleached silk beautifully, making a gorgeous creamy blend. This is so pretty, I'm not sure I can put it into words. It's incredibly soft, and it will be warm and cosy once spun. Baby camel fibre is a luxury fibre, with similar properties to wool, but it is collected when the camel sheds rather than from shearing. I think this needs to be a shawl. With the drape and shine of the silk, combined with the warmth and softness of the camel, it just needs to be something worn close to the skin. I've never spun camel, so this will be quite the experience.
Have you ever spun or crocheted with baby camel?
