Around the World of Wool
This is a unique blend I have never seen before. First though, let's discuss the theme. This year's calendar has a theme! The first year had 100g of their existing fibre (for the most part, at least, there were some new blends). Last year had 50g of luxury blends. This year it's travelling the world. Today's is Gavle Goat, and if you're a Tumblr user like me, you will be very familiar with this. The goat is a Swedish tradition and you can read about it here. The blend is beautiful, a mixture of mohair and flax/linen. Like I said, I've never seen this blend before, I have absolutely no idea what it's best used for, but I am very tempted to crochet myself a little Gavle goat. I spun it on my Ashford drop spindle and did a bracelet ply for a two ply yarn. With the fuzzy aspect of the mohair I'm going to consider this a double knit, even though it is a bit thinner, just to let the fuzzy show. At 118 yards, it's a fair amount of yarn! But maybe it'll just be a small mini baby goat.
Dungeons & Dragons
This is adorable. It's a little keyring with a beholder on it! It has a dark blue circle, a darker blue on top of that, and a cream beholder with "Beholder" above it and "Lawful Evil" below it. I don't plan on making all of these craft related, but I am absolutely going to use this to hold all my stitch markers. In my first (or my second?) D&D campaign my group fought a beholder, but not since then. I'm now running my fifth campaign and my seventh campaign, so... Who knows? Maybe one of them will need to face the beauty.
Get it?
Because beauty... is in the eye of the... OK fine it's an old joke, it still makes me smile.
Yankee Candle Home Inspirations
These do repeat, so I'm just going to talk about the first time they appear. This one has a gorgeous cinnamon scent and smells like the comfort of a union forming for the first time. It's also a lovely red colour, and the scent lasted several hours after the candle burnt out.
Twinings
Each day is two tea bags of the same tea, so I'm very happy with that. I get a morning cuppa and an evening cuppa. Today's is Glow which is strawberry, cucumber, green tea, and aloe vera. I don't have the most faith ever in the health benefits of the tea, I don't think a cup or two a day will make my skin magically glow, but it does taste great. It's also a cute colour in the cup, smells comforting, and is generally rather lovely.
