Each day though I am going to be talking about two things - firstly I'll be opening the World of Wool advent calendar, just as I did last year, and secondly I'll talk about one project I've done this year that I've not posted about here. It might be a finished project, it might be on going, but pictures will be in the Discord server (but you may need to remind me if I forget) and on my Instagram. Let's get to it.
World of Wool Day One
Since this year is a set of blends they've not done before, there's no possible guessing as to what they are. Today's blend is called Mistletoe and Wine. It's a beautiful white merino with bursts of bamboo in green and sari silk in red. I've been ill for the last fortnight so I've already spun this on my supported spindles from Niddy Noddy UK. It's beautiful, and I'm thinking I might make them into little hand warmers for the winter/spring. This was my first time successfully spinning sari silk, and I'm really proud of my attempt.
Alpacalypse
This was a blend from World of Wool with merino and alpaca blended in a beautiful burnt copper tone. It's no longer available, as it was for Red Nose Day, but it was a delightful spin. I spun 300g entirely on my Ashford espinner and it is most definitely a large amount. It was my first project during Tour de Fleece this year (a spinning event that runs alongside Tour de France: when their wheels spin, so do ours). I really want to crochet this next year into a steampunk shawl, maybe cog motifs joined together.
So that's it for day one.
Happy December
