2014 - Top Five Benchwarmers (the books that have been on your TBR the longest)
Considering just how many books I have on my Kobo (I filled up a 32GB memory card...) there are a lot.
1. Les Miserables by Victor Hugo
Honestly the number of times I have tried to read this is ridiculous. I've tried using Serial Reader, audiobook, just reading it as a standard ebook... I love the story, and I want to read it. It's just a little chunky.
2. Agatha Christie, Miss Marple series
Since I was barely a teenager I've wanted to read the Miss Marple books, but still I haven't.
3. Evelina by Frances Burney
This is another book I've wanted to read since I was barely a teenager. This is one of the earliest romance novels, and it sounds so wonderful as a coming of age story.
4. Miss Phryne Fisher Investigates by Kerry Greenwood
I watched the series on Netflix of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries and just fell in love with it. I've wanted to read the series ever since. An Australian woman solves mysteries against the back drop of the roaring 20s, what more could you want?
5. Le Morte D'Arthur by Sir Thomas Mallory
I started reading this when I was 14, but stopped because it was so chunky. I desperately want to go back to it.
2015 - Series you want to start this year
There are so many series that I really want to read, but I'll stick with listing just a few.
1. The Adventures of Odysseus by Glyn Iliffe
This is basically a retelling of the Homeric epic, and I love the Homeric epics. Nothing more to be said, really.
2. Magnificent Devices by Shelley Adina
A steampunk series that I've had on my Kobo for a long time, and honestly I'm mostly intrigued by the cover art.
3. Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan
Epic fantasy is a genre I want to read more, and this is an excellent excuse.
4. Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan
I've heard a lot about Rick Riordan, and I love Greco-Roman mythology. This has been recommended to me so many times, that I'm basically just giving into peer pressure at this point.
5. Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky
Like epic fantasy, I want to read a lot more epic science fiction, and I've heard a lot of good things about this series.
There are so many more books and series I want to read, so hopefully I'll make some progress on a few of them.
