There are some Really Very Exciting Things coming soon, but I'm not going to tell you what they are.

I'm a few days shy of turning 24. I feel old, but then I started to think.
We allow numbers to dominate our lives in so many ways. The time, the date, our age, our weight, test scores, grades, height, clothes size, number of partners... Why? I'm almost 24 years old. It is currently 16.51 as I'm typing this on Tuesday November 4, 2014. I'm not sure how much I weigh. I tend to get grades that are between 70% and 90%. I'm 5'7''ish. I wear clothes that are size 10/12. None of that gives you any clues as to my personality, my likes, dislikes, experiences. My point is this: it is just a number. Never let a number rule your life. A number on page or screen tells nothing about who you are as a person. It is that time of year again when a lot of people return to study, whether school, college, or university. That means for the next few months we are probably going to be very stressed over our grades, how many hours we are studying, how many pages we still have left to read, and on it goes. They are just numbers. None of that will tell anyone about your experiences, your memories. It is just a number. I won't lie and say I've never stressed about a grade; I have, and I still will. This isn't some sort of life changing epiphany that will change my outlook on life forever, and never let me slip into old ways of thinking. I'm human. Let your personality sing through, not numbers on a page. See you next Tuesday! E |
