March Wrap Up
I managed to read nine items last month - two articles and seven books - and I'm really happy with that.
I finished The Memoirs of Lady Trent by Marie Brennan by reading the last three books: The Voyage of the Basilisk, In the Labyrinth of Drakes, and Within the Sanctuary of Wings. This is such a wonderful series, five books of wholesome comfort with just the right amount of tension. The final book is definitely one of my favourite series ending books of all time. Lady Trent has such a beautiful and strong narrative voice, I fell in love with the series. If you like dragons, a Victorian aesthetic, and women doing amazing things, you will love it too.
Next I read The Licanus Trilogy by James Islington, which includes the brilliantly titled The Shadow of What Was Lost, An Echo of Things to Come, and The Light of All That Falls. This epic fantasy trilogy was an amazing series, but some relationships did feel more than just a little forced.
This means that in March, with the addition of the two articles I read for my degree, I read a rather satisfying 3,737 pages.
April TBR
Since I didn't get around to reading The Poppy War series by RF Kuang as I planned, I will be rolling that series over into this month. As such, here is my TBR...
- The Poppy War by RF Kuang
- The Dragon Republic by RF Kuang
- The Burning God by RF Kunag
- Scythe by Neal Shusterman
- Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman
- The Toll by Neal Shusterman
First Quarter Haul
I'm not even sorry about this.
Part of the challenge of getting the number of unread books I own down is to only get one book for every five items I finish. This can include articles and books for university that I don't own, as I'm still reading something. However, I got my first vaccine during the week, so I'm celebrating with a few books. Like I said, I'm not even sorry.
The four books I got because I finished reading 25 items, leaving me one spare...
- Master of One by Jaida Jones and Danielle Bennett
- Kingdom of Flesh and Fire by Jennifer L. Armentrout
- From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout
- Lore by Alexandra Bracken
- Quicksilver by Neal Stephenson
- The Confusion by Neal Stephenson
- The System of the World by Neal Stephenson
- A Thousand Ships by Natalie Haynes
- Pandora's Box by Natalie Haynes
- The Children of Jocasta by Natalie Haynes
So that was my month! So far I'm very happy with my reading progress this year, and I'm excited to keep going with this challenge... and yes, I probably will buy a few more books when I get the second half of the vaccine.
