First up is #24in48 which is happening this weekend. 24in48 is simple: over the course of 48 hours (the weekend) you read for 24 hours. I tried doing this in January, but things went a bit wrong. Technology hated me. This year, I have backups in place. There are no challenges for 24in48 as such; the readathon itself is a challenge.
My TBR for 24in48 is as follows:
- The Magician by Raymond E Feist (this is assuming I'm unable to finish it before Saturday)
- Never Deal with a Dragon by Robert N Charrette
The series by Feist is the first trilogy of a fantasy series, and I'm pretty excited to keep going with it. That said, the books are long and I don't fully know if I can keep up with that for this readathon. The Shadowrun novels are cyberpunk fantasy, with magic and technology in the same world. For a long time I've wanted a book which is both science fiction and fantasy, not just one or the other, so this series is perfect for me. Plus, it is the same setting as the Shadowrun games and CorpSINS from Hyper RPG, so that makes it even more appealing.
Next up is Read Your eReader and this is a must for me. I have completely filled my Kobo eReader, including a 64GB memory card. To say I have a lot of eBooks is a bit of an understatement.
At this stage, I don't have a TBR or know if I'm going to give the challenges a go. My only aim is to finish at least two books a week so I can make space on my Kobo. That's it. That should be a minimum of eight books, and since it starts the day after 24in48, I might continue with whatever series I'm reading for that, whether the Riftwar books or Shadowrun. That should clear some space... right? ... RIght?
To give an idea of how many books I have, on my Kobo desktop app I have 1201 eBooks. The vast majority of these eBooks however are collections. For example, the entire Harry Potter collection is counted as one eBook despite there being seven books in it. This does not include the books I have just on my memory card, which includes almost all of the Delphi Classics books, and several books from Humble Bundle.
I really need to make space.
Let me know if you are taking part in any readathons this summer! As always, you can follow my progress on Goodreads and Litsy (@EllanaRose).
