Let's start with something you might find boring, but I want to share anyway just because I'm so happy about it all. If you have no interest in what I wore or in my make up choices, just skip to the "Read More" section.
I'm not usually a fan of dresses and skirts that go above the knee, but I love this dress and I wore it on Sunday. I got it with the top in plain black, and I just cannot praise this dress enough! The fabric is gorgeous - it drapes so beautifully, but doesn't crease. Even though I had the sashes tied quite tightly, I didn't find a single crease. It does billow out a little, which leads to a few Marilyn Monroe moments, but it is such a flattering dress. I want a lot more of them! I had the sashes going straight over my shoulders in the V neck plunge style, then crossed the sashes to wrap them around my waist; I tied them in a knot at my back. However, because of the crutches, I have to wear long sleeves; my arms can bruise from the cuffs so I like to have a layer of fabric between me and them. I wore this and it is so pretty. It is a little darker than shown on the site, but it is beautiful. Obviously, it was cold on Sunday so I wore a gorgeous military style coat from Spitalfields Market, but I haven't been able to find it online so I can't get you a link for it. I also wore my every day shoes and the best tights I have ever found.
Make up is pretty important to me, so I'm going to have to have a paragraph for that as well. Sorry. Foundation is not my forte, but I love the Jackie Oates foundation from Lush. I am very pale and have always struggled to find a foundation that suits me, but this one is gorgeous. It is not drying, it gives great coverage, and blends into my skin tone with ease. Staying with Lush, I wore this lip tint which was a limited edition item last Valentines. It is no longer available and my own tin expires next week. I love the colour, and I will genuinely miss it. Over that, I used a little lipstick for colour and shine. It might look a little costly, but it really is worth it! For blusher, I used Estee Lauder Lilac Rose blush, which I have not been able to find online, so I think it might have been discontinued. I love pencils, and on the waterline I used this one in Onyx; it lasts ages and goes on easily. I used this eye shadow in Charcoal; in all honesty, I'm not a fan of it, and I regret paying so much for it. It goes on very pale, and fades in less than an hour, but to give it credit it does work well on the lower lid to act as an extra liner below the lash line. On top of that I used this in black to create wings. I love liquid liner, and made the transition from liquid to gel a few months ago. It is very easy to use, and glides on. It really does last a long time, even with a lot of scrubbing with make up remover.
I went to my first gig. It was amazing. I had the best night of my life.
As you probably know by now, I watch a lot of YouTube (probably too much). When I heard that As It Is would be playing fairly local to me, I bought a ticket instantly. Luckily, I was able to take a friend to be carer for the night, so I was joined by Ant, from Ant Can't Draw, who is a year older today. Wouldn't it be a great birthday present to get his Facebook page up to 250 likes?
As It Is was not the only band playing, so naturally I wanted to make sure I was going to enjoy the other bands as well. I looked up Miss Vincent and Nightlife and immediately needed to buy every song they had ever made ever. I did, and I was not disappointed. Every song was better than the last, and a lot of the lyrics gave me poetry or short story ideas.
We arrived early, and saw a lot of teenagers. I'm 23, and Ant is a little older than me, and I really did feel like the oldest ones there. Thankfully, there were a few parents attending as well. Never thought I would ever say that, but there you have it. I have to admit, the security staff were lovely and let us in before everyone else so I could get settled; I emailed them to let them know I would need to sit down, and they provided me with a choice of chairs. They also kept checking to make sure everything was fine throughout the night.
The gig itself was just incredible. The bands were amazing, the music was awesome, and every single moment was better than anything I could have imagined. The night even ended perfectly when I got two hugs from Evan Edinger. Every moment was simply incredible. I did lose a little hearing for most of Sunday night, and I spent yesterday hearing a high pitched ringing, but who cares? I had the most amazing time possible. Sadly I didn't get any pictures because like an idiot, I left my camera at home and my phone is incredibly old. I will always have the memories. Oh, and the tweets.
See you next Tuesday!
